Olivier Awards 2026: Paddington The Musical Takes Top Honors

The 50th Olivier Awards celebrated British theatre excellence on April 12 at London's Royal Albert Hall, with Paddington The Musical emerging as the night's biggest winner. Hosted by comedian Nick Mohammed, the milestone ceremony honored outstanding achievements across theatre, musicals, opera, and dance.

Top Acting Winners

Rachel Zegler claimed the award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in Evita at the London Palladium. Paapa Essiedu won Best Actor for his role in All My Sons at Wyndham's Theatre, while Rosamund Pike took home Best Actress for Inter Alia at the National Theatre.

Jack Holden won Best Actor in a Play for Kenrex at The Other Palace, delivering one of the evening's most celebrated performances.

Major Production Winners

Paddington The Musical at the Savoy Theatre won Best New Musical, solidifying its status as a West End sensation. The production also earned wins for James Hameed and Arti Shah in Best Actor in a Musical, Tom Edden for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical, and Luke Sheppard for Best Director.

Into The Woods at the Bridge Theatre won Best Musical Revival, while Punch at the Young Vic and Apollo Theatre claimed Best New Play. All My Sons at Wyndham's Theatre won Best Play Revival.

Other Notable Winners

Oh, Mary! at Trafalgar Theatre won Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. Julie Hesmondhalgh won Best Supporting Actress for Punch, and Fabian Aloise took home Best Theatre Choreographer for Evita.

The ceremony marked five decades of the Olivier Awards, which remain the highest honor in British theatre since their establishment in 1976.
